A hearty "THANK YOU" goes out to all of the parents who have been sending in your pull tabs, or "Pop Tops", off of cans. We have seven gallons bagged so far, but please continue to send them in! If you own a business, please consider putting out a jug and asking your customers to bring them to you, then just drop them off at the school office. These tabs can come from ANYTHING that has a pull top: cat food, soup, nuts, energy drinks, soft drinks, beer, etc. Last year we turned in 33 gallons. However, in the two years prior to that, we turned in almost 100 gallons each year! We are asking you to do whatever you can to help us bring up our totals again. Why do we collect "Pop Tops"? These little pull tabs mean nothing financially to us individually, but for the Shriner's Hospitals for Children they mean a great deal of money! Aluminum has recycling value, and the "Pop Tops" are the only part of the can that are pure aluminum. The pull tabs are sold to a recycling company, and the proceeds are used to help provide transportation for needy children to and from the Shriner's Hospitals. Plumb Elementary School has made this a year-round project. Won't you help us meet our goal this year for 100 gallons of "Pop Tops"? We knew you would!
