The Plumb PTA Board has been hard at work during the summer planning some fun events and programs for the 2014-2015 school year. We hope you were able to enjoy what we would like to be the first of many PTA Sponsored “Hot Dog Socials” on Meet the Teacher Day, served by the Teacher Specialists (Art, Music, P.E.). What a great opportunity to meet the rest of your child’s teachers!
This year, the PTA will be holding two major fundraisers: Classic Cookie Dough (kicked off August 28th) and our Carnival / Auction. These fundraisers will support our fun family events, PTA Programs, School Clubs and Teachers, and we are also hoping to purchase THREE MORE SMARTBOARDS for Plumb’s classrooms.
The School and PTA are working together to provide more opportunities for Family Engagement (FE). In order to encourage more family participation this year, the PTA CARNIVAL will be moving to FEBRUARY. In October, by overwhelming request, we will be having a FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS! You can find all of our events and Programs on the monthly website Calendar.
Be sure to attend our PTA GENERAL MEETING on Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30 PM in the Multi Purpose Room to learn more about what the PTA does to support Plumb Elementary.
PTA members in attendance will be eligible for a drawing that night for ONE REIMBURSEMENT OF A PINELLAS COUNTY LEVEL II VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK (worth around $50). For those of you who are already Level II Volunteers, we will also be giving away a few Plumb Spirit Tee Shirts.
The PTA budget for the year will be presented for the approval of our members! You will have an opportunity to review the line items, ask questions, make comments, and VOTE!
Our PTA Reflections Program for 2014-2015 will be officially launched that evening! If you have a student who loves art, music, dance, literature, photography, or film production then you need to be there to hear all the details about this National Cultural Arts Competition in which they may participate! Plumb Elementary PTA supports Reflections in a big way every year, so please encourage your student(s) to engage in this special activity!
If you are interested in becoming involved with the PTA, we still have several Board positions to fill. We are in need of someone who has experience with spreadsheets and budgets to come on the Board as our Treasurer! If that is you, please contact me!
If being a Board member is not your style, but you’d like to be involved in helping improve your child’s school, please let us know! The PTA and Plumb Elementary still need your help!
