Well, it’s finally here! The BIG PTA February “FUN FEST” is Saturday, February 7 from 10-3! Our “FUN FEST” Committee has been working very hard since October(!) to put together this great fundraising and community event! Check out our website at www.PlumbElementaryPTA.org/Fun Fest2 and our Facebook page for more information on venues and food trucks! We hope to see you there!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in the “FUN FEST” planning - including endless meetings, phone calls, copying, shed organizing, prize and auction basket shopping, food truck-scheduling and volunteer-rustling. I would especially like to give a HUGE thank you to our “FUN FEST” Coordinator, Amy Sohoski, who has done an incredible job organizing the event. Amy has been involved in coordinating our silent auction for eight years. She (reluctantly) took on coordinating the entire event this year, and, I have to say her organizational skills, tireless effort, fearless ability to ask for donations and no nonsense approach really made the job easier on the rest of us and will make the “FUN FEST” an amazing event! If you happen to see Amy the day of the “FUN FEST”, PLEASE make sure you give her a pat on the back!
There have been some questions on why we moved our traditional Fall Carnival to a Winter “FUN FEST”. I wrote a blog about this back in our October newsletter. Just scroll down to the 9/30/2014 Blog titled “Traditions.”
The Spaghetti Dinner has returned! The TEACHERS and CAFETERIA STAFF have taken on hosting this event the Friday (Feb 6) evening before “FUN FEST” 5:30 – 7 PM. Dinner is a bargain at $4.00 per person, and all proceeds go directly to the school.
The Plumb PTA is looking for some awesome people for our Board for the 2015-2016 school year. The positions are pretty wide open, so if you are interested in becoming involved with your child’s school and helping their teachers, or even if you have a group of friends that would like to be involved and have some fun, we have a position for you. Give it a try – I have learned more than I could possibly have imagined in my four years on the board, and I’ve done things I never thought I was capable of simply by stepping up and out of my comfort zone. It’s an amazing experience – you’ll grow as a person and meet some incredible people. Contact me at PlumbPTAPresident@gmail.com for more information.
Thank you to the group that attended our PTA General Meeting January 20th in the Media Center. Pamela Moore from the School Board was there to talk about Common Core Standards and what they mean for our children. Our VP of Programs, Karla Moreno, wrote more about that in an article in this newsletter. Please check it out – the meeting was very interesting and informative – and entertaining…
