Mrs. Beatty's Third Grade Class Sends Symbolic Butterflies to Mexico!
Each year Journey North celebrates the migration of the Monarch Butterflies' journey to Mexico with a "Symbolic Migration". In fact, Mrs. Beatty's Third Grade Class participated in the 19th Annual Monarch Journey by decorating a large butterfly, and sending it all the way to Angangueo, Mexico for the winter.
Not only did the students create smaller symbolic butterflies to go along with the Ambassador Butterfly, they also wrote friendly messages in Spanish to their friends in Mexico. At the Monarch sanctuaries in Mexico, the children will protect the butterflies and send them north in the Spring.
Journey North states, "The symbolic butterflies build bridges of communication between students in Mexico, The United States, and Canada. United by the Monarch Butterfly, children across North America learn authentic lessons of conservation, cooperation, and ambassadorship!"
Mrs. Beatty's Third Grade Class is looking forward to the Ambassador Butterflies returning in the Spring!
