WHY do I log my volunteer hours?
1. All hours are reported to the Principal, Board Members, Superintendent and Florida Department of Education twice a year.
2. They look at: A. Parent and community engagement and how it affects student achievement throughout the District, and by each individual school. B. The effect Volunteers have on students. Example: Mentors, Tutors, etc.
3. With FOCUS we are able to track how Mentor and Tutor hours directly affect student grades and behavior.
4. It is also a good barometer revealing the viability of choosing the area for a new workplace in the District. A. Businesses look at a large Volunteer base in the community as a benefit to choosing the area for their workplace. B. They want to bring their businesses into an area with a good school system, such as Pinellas County, that can easily demonstrate community involvement.
