Fortunately, over the past decade, a new way of thinking about Arts education has taken hold. Based on substantive and rigorous content, the new Arts education develops the capacities that business leaders, educators, and parents want the schools to provide for our children: creative problem solving, analytical thinking, collaborative skills and judgment. The Florida Standards for PreK to 12 includes standards regarding Dance, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, Film/Video, and Photography.
The "Reflections" Program is one of the largest Programs that is sponsored by PTA. It continues to be one of the few and best support systems for The Arts in the public school system!
Plumb Elementary PTA is dedicated to continue to encourage students in their artistic talents as part of a well rounded education. The "Reflections" Program at Plumb is viable and active. In 2015, of the Plumb students that participated, we had 14 students advance to County competition, and four students advance to State competition! Woo-Hoo!
The outgoing "Reflections" Chair will be readily available to you to answer questions and provide tips!
